The River Spey of which Loch Insh is a widening is probably the most famous Salmon river in the world. Locals have fished Loch Insh for years and it’s still very popular. The largest recorded salmon was 36lb and was caught by Gregor MacBain in 1962
Pike are also abundant in Loch Insh and many anglers come in search of the big one! Trout and Arctic Char can always be found behind the island which is nicely sheltered from the prevailing wind, making it perfect for teaching fly fishing or just spinning with the kids.
Hire is based on ½ day (4 hours) or day prices(8 hours). Early morning and late evening hire’s also available.
Our fishing season runs from the middle of February through until the end of September.
We have three fishing boats which can be used with or without engines or you can bring your own engine if you want.
We have spinning, fly, and Spey cast rods for you to hire out on the loch or again you can bring your own.
In the gift shop you can purchase any extra tackle that you require including lures that we recommend, but bait fishing is not however allowed on the loch.
Bank fishing is available on the loch at a greatly reduced rate to using the boat if that is what you prefer . This approach is perfect for kids and for catching trout rather than Salmon.
