Loch Insh Water Sports and Outdoor Activity Centre, near Aviemore, Scotland
"We had a really great time at Loch Insh last week. Thank you for the great skiing - we really enjoyed it - Mike is a very good instructor.
The Restaurant food was delicious and we always had more than enough to eat!
We enjoyed the egg drop contest and the boys still cant believe they won.
The skiing was fun - especially on the mountain and falling over and using the 'T' bar tow - it was worth the long drive to the Lecht.
Thank you so much for our wonderful holiday and making us so welcome!
Kilchattan School - 18 February 2011
I especially enjoyed the snowboarding despite the sore muscles! I may take it up now over skiing
Having fun on the slopes
On the slopes of Cairngorm Mountain
Using the rope tow on our year round dry slope
Learning the basics on the dry slope
Just the right length of time to have a go and enjoy skiing for the first time. learn to use a tow, how to stop and start possibly master turning!
The perfect chance to allow pupils to progress at their own pace. The advanced ones can enjoy the slalom course & the full slope. Whilst the beginners can take it slower.
During the winter the hills are covered in snow from the beginning of December through till May. Loch Insh turns its attention to the Mountains and provides ski and snowboard courses for groups for day, weekend or full weeks on the snow.
All goups staying during the winter will start on the dry slope to get the basics on day one. From then on we operate on the cairngorm mountain or at the lecht whichever has the best conditions. Get a great start before that ski holiday.
Taking a little longer to learn, Boarding is best suited to the young at heart. Youngsters love this activity and are taught all the necessary lingo too! We can teach this over a long or short session or on a full day up the hill the same as skiing.
In recent years BASI has taken the sport under its wing making it far safer to learn snowboarding. Let our fully trained instructors start you on a rewarding journey to becoming an expert, with a steep learning curve but great fun, a few bruises but fantastic sense of achievement when mastered.
Skiing is the most popular and the most accessible for all sizes and abilities. Many children may have done a little before so groups are split into abilities for the week. With modern carving skis, many of the children will progress amazingly quickly and probably overtake their teachers by the end of the week!
If hills are closed we still have our own slope to carry on keeping your group entertained for the day.
We ski on both Cairngorm Mountain and the Lecht ski areas and assess the forecast each morning, allowing us to select the best conditions for the group that day.
This is a great evening or end of day activity if you have been at the ski resort all day or if you feel the other snow sports are a bit to challenging for your groups age or ability. Always a big grin factor at the end of this session! The group is taken through a safety talk at the beginning then allowed to just have fun. It doesn’t usually take much persuasion.
